The 1879 Group

Isandlwana & Rorke's Drift.

The 1879 Group Living History section recreates a section of the 24th Regiment, Royal Engineers, Attached Medical Staff and also Royal Artillery. The section portrays the Victorian Soldier of the Anglo-Zulu War with complete authenticity, and so uniform and equipment must meet with our high standards. New members are kindly asked to join as Privates of the 24th Regiment.

The Full Kit can be expensive, so to get you started we would encourage you to first purchase what we call Basic Kit. You can then purchase parts of your Full Kit when you can afford it. Click on this link to see the uniform and equipment needed.

E-mail our Membership Secretary who will send you a Membership Application Form.

You can join as an Ordinary Member which entitles you to receive our newsletter 'The Assegai' and attend the Group's AGM held at Brecon. You will also be invited to our Annual Dinner and encouraged to join in with other activities laid on by the Group.
